The Revenge of Ricky Williams sick their debut release upon the world, the EP entitled Past The Legal Limit February 13th, 2010. The rambunctious band that parties simply because they’re alive soaks you with attitude that oozes from their “Party Punk” jams.
The band, consisting of magnetic front woman Pam Newman on vocals, Taylor White on guitar, David Batcheldor on bass and Clinton Kelley on drums, came together in Louisville, Kentucky in early 2009 and recorded this EP in October. A range of influences from No Doubt to the Sex Pistols to Queen can be heard in this EP, which blends several different rock music styles. “Sweet Wolf Shirt” is surf rock-styled, “I Never Liked You Anyway” has hints of hip hop and punk, “Selfish Bitch” can be danced to and “We Party ‘Cause We’re Alive” can almost be waltzed to.
RRW is set to take their show on the road with extensive dates scheduled in the coming months. The band will be making their out-of-market debut in Indianapolis in February, as well as showing their faces in Detroit, Bowling Green and Nashville for tentative gigs in 2010. Impending radio airplay is on the way from Louisville’s WFPK public radio. In early April, they will headline the Afro Punk at Art Sanctuary festival at the Alley Theater at Art Sanctuary in Louisville and are in the running to play the Afro Punk annual festival in Brooklyn, New York.
After recording the album, Greek import keyboardist Evmenios Poulias was added to the roster, expanding the band’s sound even further. They plan on returning to the studio this summer to record their first full-length album.
